Reading is one of the most important skills a student can practice to develop a life-long love for learning and to help support all subject areas. Students begin by learning to read, and as their skills grow they begin to read to learn!
A fluent reader is able to decode and comprehend what they are reading, so both are key parts of second grade reading curriculum.
In this resource section, I will link some helpful reading websites and resources.
- OxfordOwl is helpful for finding ideas/resources for a specific issue. Under the "Fun Ideas" section, there are some helpful game ideas to help support your child's reading through fun activities!
- PBS Bookfinder is a great site that can help you or your child find a good fit book. You are able to search by level, subject, or keywords.
- TargetSkills is a site that helps break apart the different components of reading that might be an area of concern for a struggling reader.
- Reading Games provides a list of games for students by age group. I have previewed a few of the games from the 6-10 age group a
- FunBrain is a link that has reading games organized by grade level and by skill.
